Nail art.

Ok, I apologies for all the nail posts at the moment guys but I have had a bit of spare time recently between deadlines and to save me from boredom I have been painting my nails a lot! So today I woke up and thought I would create a little nail art of my own.

So this is the final result nothing astonishing just a half and half deign black, silver and matte. I'm incredibly impatient and I wanted a straight line between the two colours and tape is too sticky to put on a damp layer of polish so I had to find another option! It turns out the answer had been staring me in the face for weeks! Post-it notes, the adhesive part of them is soft enough not to ruin the base colour and sticky enough that it sticks to the nail. So it's a win win for me and worked brilliantly.

I used 4 polishes to complete this ...

The first was the Avon nutri-boost which is my go too base coat, its fast drying and is meant to be good for your nails so makes the perfect smooth base coat.

The next was the base colour, BarryM nail effect in silver which I love so much. I have the gold as well and just cant wait to wear it in summer. (£3.99 Boots)

Then I used a basic black from miss sporty cheap and cheerful at £1.99, and I really have never seen the point in an expensive black so this is perfect. It's actually surprisingly good varnish for the price!

And finally I used rimmel matte topcoat which I have been putting over everything recently. It makes every nail colour totally different and has stopped my buying a load of matte polishes! (£4.99 Boots)

I'm really happy with the final outcome and now I have found out how useful post-its are ill be doing some more nail art designs in the future.

Creating a nail varnish!

Ok so, I love customising whether it's my room or my wardrobe I just cant get enough and I sort of took that one step further! I like many other bloggers have been in love with Lily Melrose’s style and her blog www.llymlrs.com for ever. And the oter day I was looking back through her old outfit posts and remembered she often wore a nail varnish called “top turquoise” from models own (which I now own). I wondered if it was possible to make a colour like that on my own so I turned to my collection and found two colours I don’t really wear that often: “Spring Green” and “Cyan Blue” from BarryMthey looked like the perfect colours to mix and make a dupe of “top turquoise”. So I did a little test on a piece of paper noted down the ratios and found an empty bottle of clear polish to mix in and this is the outcome.

(above)The experiments I've been going for more turquoise colours and my notes on the mix.

(left) the final outcome, I’m happy with it but in real life its a little greener and brighter that it came up in pictures.(right) Cyan Blue, my turquoise and Spring Green .

I'm going to try my hand at making a few more colours soon I think.

Lust item of the moment!

H&M trousers- £12.99
I have to say these are one of the items that I am lusting after for this spring summer and I think that they will definitely be the next thing I buy! Not only are they incredible but an absolute bargain. Well done to H&M.

Nail varnish collection.

As my lipstick collection post went down so well I thought it might be a nice idea to pop up a post about my nail varnish collection. In a similar fashion I have far far too many nail varnishes much like I do lipsticks.

Okay so there is no doubt that I, in many people's eyes have too many of these flipping things and I would have to agree with them. No one needs all these but they are so pretty I just can't resist! God this blog has turned a little bit into a confession of my shopaholic problem. But then again I enjoy it so who's it hurting! Although I wear all these varnishes all year round I have recently discovered that I have an absolute favourite brand! That being models own. Not only is the colour range one of the best I have ever seen, form their duo chrome colours to flatter creamy ones but they, at least on me, last for at least a week with a topcoat.

models own (left to right) Grace Green/ Concrete Mixer / Purple Ash / Betty Blue / Top Turquoise / nail art pen.

These are the colours I own and I think they are some perfect shades for spring and summer. Now I know what your thinking, and I agree they are not the conventional pastel shades of the moment but I think they are perfect! I'm not the biggest fan of pastels and with my palest of pale completion they don't really look that great on me either so I've gone for a more unusual collection for the new seasons.

models own - Concrete Mixer

I think this is my favourite of all my nail varnishes at the moment its perfect for every season and, well, I just adore it really!

Hope you enjoyed this little post as much as I enjoyed writing it!

My Room.

I'm becoming quite proud of the way I have decorated my pin-boards at uni. I do tours for potential students so have lots of chances to show off my handy work which is fun. From the way everything is put up I think you can tell I love mood boards. So, this I guess is pretty much my massive mood board full of fashion, beauty and general life!

I really have no point in this post. I've already said that I love to be nosey and am always wondering how people decorate the place they live. Whether it's their entire house or just their room, it's interesting to me to see how people like to decorate. I think it tells you a lot about people, and it's just fascinating too me.

So forgive me if you think this is a load of rubbish, it's just something I like to know! :)

Every day jewellery

There is very little I keep the same from day to day I love to try new things and experiment with everything from what I wear to what I eat. However, the one thing I do keep constant is the jewellery I wear. Although, I tell a lie the only thing I change is my necklaces. At the moment I'm loving chokers and so they have been what I have been rocking. But the rest is always the same.

ear cuff- ebay / earings- ebay

I pretty much wear these pieces every day, give or take one or two but you will rarely find any of these have changed. Here's a closer look at some of the pieces for you...

plain ring- gift / black stone ring- charity shop / flower ring- gift

These rings are some of my favourite possessions. Not only because they were presents but because I think they are a perfect little trio. Pretty much every time someone new sees them I get a compliment on them, and who doesn't love that! They are soon to be joined my another amber ring that my mumma has bought me for my birthday! The best part is because they are all real silver they will last forever! YAY!

both- DIY / charm- ebay

When hamsa hands like crosses became a trend I had a little research into what they are all about and thought they were a really interesting little symbol to carry round with me. I'll be honest the fact they were a trend and look cool, much like lots of other people, was its main appeal but now I rarely leave the house without this bracelet! Its just a cute addition to my jewellery.

casio mini- urban outfitters

Ever since I picked up this watch and started wearing it I have no idea how I ever lived without a watch! If I forget to put it on I find myself checking my bare wrist for the it at least 10 times. If your looking for a Casio and like me have REALLY slim wrists this is perfect! It fits really well and doesn't make me look like I'm a child with a grown-up's watch on! I would also say buy it from amazon or ebay, as they are half the price of urban outfitters.

I know most of these pieces are from ebay, charity shop or were gifts so will be hard to find but personally as a nosey person I love to know what people wear everyday in terms of jewellery so I hope you do too!

Lipstick collection.

I have a confession to make...I am a lipstick addict. I cant help it they call out to me in the store! I thought it would be a nice idea to have a route through them all and rediscover some old favourites, then it hit me why not blog about it too! So here I am admitting my addiction, they always say that is the first step, although I am not keen on breaking this habit.

As you can see I have, well almost too many but I love each any everyone! My favourites have to be the reds and anyone would think that I was mad for having as many as I do, and honestly I do a little bit too.

Not only do I love lipstick but I have discovered a new found love for wearing lip-liners as lipstick too! I picked out a few of my favourites to show you what I have been wearing for the last couple of weeks. I've already done a post on what I would class as my all time favourite, Revlon's 'fabulous fig', so I won't go into that one but if your interested be my guest and check it out. It's a beautiful colour.

far left- No7 - Grace / left - Revlon - Velvet Rose / right - Revlon - Mauve it over / far right - Mac - Ruby woo

Well, what can I say. These are four lipsticks I don't think I could ever live without. They are my go to shades of the moment and cover all my bases...

The first is Grace by No7 which I picked up with a cheeky £5 off voucher making it half price at £5 and I would definitely buy more of these! The colour pay off and the formula are lovely and it definitely has to be one of my favourite shades for the cooler months.

Now, as the sun has finally come out here in rainy England I thought it would a nice idea to break out in a few neutrals. That's where Revlon's Velvet rose and Mauve it over come in. These are so pretty and subtle, I never get it wrong when I wear these two. Revlon has to be one of my favourite brands and that's definitely because of their lipsticks!

And where would I be without a pop of colour! Like I have said a few times in the past red is my go to colour, it doesn't matter if its a night out or a hot summers day red is a fail safe for me! Ruby woo my mac is gorgeous, it lasts on my lips all day even when I eat and drink without having to re-apply which is brilliant. The only downside is is super drying so you have to slap on the lip balm but if that doesn't bother you this is definitely a must have!

Rimmel London Lip-liner- Spiced

This is one of my favourite products of the moment! I discovered it when Sammi at beauty-crush.blogspot.com raved about it on her youtube channel. And I'm could not be happier with it, it's such a fabulous colour. The only problem I have with it is that it's really drying on my lips, but that is soon solved by adding a lip balm over the top.

That's all I really have to say for this post I'm thinking of doing the same thing with my nail varnishes as I seem to have an addiction to those too! Hope you enjoyed this and ill post again soon.

Adding Colour for Spring?

So university work has been taking up a huge amount of my time recently and to be honest with you I should be doing work now, but I feel its time for a break! The sun as come out here and it's definitely getting warmer; it almost feels like spring. Which has got me thinking its time to break out in a little bit of colour. If you know me you will be all too aware that I love black, grey and white and that these are the tones that make up the majority of my wardrobe. You would also be aware I get a lot of stick for wearing such dull colours. So I have taken it upon myself to break into a bit of colour...

trousers - £24.99 Newlook / shirts - birthday gifts Topshop / Jumper- a year old Newlook / shorts- £35 Topshop

These are just a few items that I have been wearing recently to inject a splash of colour into my outfits. Although, after taking this picture I noticed I have a lot of warm tones so i think its time to go get some cooler colours. I have a craving for something patterned and bright blue for some reason, time to go shopping i think.
